THE team

HOW IT STARTED

In February 2017, talented sailors from the Rotterdam region had the opportunity to apply for the Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team (ROST). The team was founded to introduce young talent to offshore sailing and compete in various races within the professional circuit.

To involve as many talented sailors as possible in offshore sailing, the ROST training programme spans three years. During this period, sailors are trained to become professionals, each developing their own specialisation. The first team, ROST I, trained together for three years and secured 14th place in the 2019 Fastnet Race. After this, the baton was passed on, and following a new selection process, the second generation, ROST II, was formed. Despite COVID, they also had three years to develop as sailors and compete in major events such as Breskens Sailing Week, NSR, and Cowes Week.

Since spring 2023, the third generation has stepped aboard the Van Uden. Curious to see who is part of ROST III? Scroll down to find out!

  • Goals

ROST aims to train sailing talents aged 18 to 25 from KR&ZV De Maas and other Rotterdam sailing clubs. Sailors are trained in their own specialisation, preparing them to enter the professional sailing world. Additionally, ROST strives to compete at the highest (inter)national level. The team's key achievements since its founding can be found on the event calendar page.
