The Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team
The Royal Maas and infrastructure firm Van Uden Group have combined their forces to initiate a new Dutch offshore sailing team. The Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team (ROST) is led by three-time Volvo Ocean Race veteran Gerd-Jan Poortman. The main goal of the project is to enable talented sailors to develop themselves in the international offshore sailing world. Currently, the team consists of talented sailors from the Rotterdam Region, sailing on a Ker 46. This is an ultimate carbonfibre sailing machine and one of the fastest vessels on the Dutch waters.
Van Uden
Rotterdam-founded Van Uden Group is a supplier of logistic solutions, a real estate investor and active in firm trade. For many years, Van Uden has supported and stimulated sailing in all sorts of ways. As Official Partner, the company is the initiator of the Rotterdam Offshore Sailing Team.
Royal Maas Yacht Club
The Royal Maas - founded in 1851 - has had many successes in offshore sailing. Sailing legend Conny van Rietschoten (1926- 2013) has won the Whitbread Round the World Race twice (nowadays the Volvo Ocean race). Moreover, Team Brunel participates in 2018 Volvo Ocean Race sailing under the Maas-flag, with Maas member Carlo Huisman (then 25) on board.
